Manchester United reportedly missed out a huge transfer in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils went after talented Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso.
The World Cup winner has struggled for playing time under Hansi Flick this season and United saw an opportunity.
However, Bayern were not prepared to sell Tolisso halfway through the season, according to Kicker.
The German publication claims Bayern felt they had "no choice" but to retain the Frenchman.
It is not unlikely negotiations could happen again in the summer, with Tolisso unhappy with his position at the Bundesliga giants.
