Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara says quitting Barcelona was the best decision of his career.

It's now six seasons since Thiago left Barca for Germany.

"I always wanted to play and I saw that this was not possible at Barça. I had to take that step to be happy playing football. I wanted to do much more than raising a trophy, because in the end you ask yourself: 'How much have I been a participant in that title?'," he said.

"I will always be grateful to Barça, but I left because I wanted to compete and did not want to be typecast.

"When Pep Guardiola called me, I did not think twice."
