Bayern Munich great Lahm: I don't understand what is happening with Mane

Bayern Munich great Philipp Lahm has taken aim at Sadio Mane over his inconsistent start to the season.

Liverpool sold Mane to Bayern in the summer in a deal that could reach up to £35m It ended the Senegal international's six-year stint on Merseyside, where he scored 120 goals in 269 appearances.

However, since moving to Germany, things have not gone fully to plan for Mane. The 30-year-old has scored five goals in 11 matches in all competitions, but only three have come in the Bundesliga.

During his brief time in Munich, Mane has been utilised as a centre-forward and on the left wing. And Bayern legend Lahm has questioned these positional changes, and says he doesn't know why they are happening.

“Mane's qualities are out of question," Lahm told Bild TV. “But it's crucial that roles must be clearly assigned.

“I don't see that at the moment. I currently don't understand how the roles are defined.

“Everyone has to know what they have to do on the pitch."
