Julian Nagelsmann wants Leon Goretzka to stay at Bayern Munich for years to come.
The Germany midfielder is out of contract in the summer of 2022 and has been linked with Manchester United.
"Leon is an important player for us. I would be happy to work with him for many years," Nagelsmann told reporters at his first press conference in charge of the German giants.
"I think very highly of him. He is one of the most dangerous midfielders in the world. Everyone likes to have him in their team."
Bayern chief Oliver Kahn also said the club were hopeful of completing an extension with Goretzka and his team-mate Kingsley Coman, who has been linked with United and Liverpool.
