Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says they've long been interested in Jurgen Klopp - but circumstances have always prevented his hiring.

Klopp is now celebrating a Premier League title won with Liverpool, having done the same in Germany with Borussia Dortmund.

Rummenigge reflected, "Whenever we were looking for a trainer, Jürgen Klopp was under contract.

“One should not forget that we have been blessed with top trainers in recent years. Jupp Heynckes, Pep Guardiola, Louis van Gaal and now also Hansi Flick.

"If you are looking for a trainer, the timing must also be right."
