Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge regrets their treatment of former coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The Napoli coach didn't last two seasons with the Germans.

Rummenigge said, “Ancelotti is a great character and a great Coach, but in the second season, the results were not what the club was expecting.

“Carlo is a friend and an incredibly calm person, even during the most difficult moments. Perhaps we should've waited a little longer before firing him.

“I almost cried after announcing the news. He proved himself to be a great man."
