Bayern Munich chairman Rummenigge: Sanches had firm Man Utd offer, but...

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has again spoken of beating Manchester United to Renato Sanches.

Bayern swooped to seal a shock £27.5million deal for ex-Benfica midfielder Sanches, who made his debut in their 2-0 victory over Schalke on Friday.

"We knew very well that Renato had a firm offer from Manchester United," he told Bild.

"I heard that the United deal couldn't be completed, as they didn't know who their next manager would be.

"We invited Benfica's president and Sanches' agent to Madrid and that night we shook hands on the transfer."
