Bayern Munich boss Flick: Lewandowski hunting down Muller record

Hansi Flick has tipped Robert Lewandowski to break Gerd Muller's goalscoring record at Bayern Munich.

The Pole made it five successive seasons with 40 goals in Sunday's 2-0 win over Union Berlin. 26 of those have come in Bundesliga, with Muller holding the all-time record of 40 in one season.

And with eight games remaining, Flick has backed Lewandowski to surpass that total.

"Lewy makes a good impression, I think he is in top form," said Flick.

"Today we failed to incorporate him into our game as much and we have to do that better in general in our offensive game.

"He scored again, is at 26 goals, and has eight games left to break Gerd Muller's record. That is not going to be easy but he has the quality.

"If someone can do it, it's him."
