Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey ends England plans

Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey has decided to end plans of committing to England.

The Mirror says the international future of the 21-year-old has been a hot topic for some time, and at one point it was even suggested that he would eligible for England.

But having chosen to represent the country of his birth, Jamaica, the forward was all set to make his senior international bow in Sunday's CONCACAF League of Nations game against Bonaire, only to pull out in a row over his brother.

"Obviously, I came to Jamaica because of the international call-up," he told the Jamaica Gleaner.

"I did agree to come based on the agreement we had. But when I got here, it was a totally different scenario. They didn't keep their end (of the deal), therefore, I decided not to play this game.

"I am here for one reason: to represent the country. But they didn't keep their end. Once they are willing to do that, I am ready to put on the national team jersey."

Bailey is believed to be unhappy that the Jamaica Football Federation have gone back on their promise to also call up his younger brother Kyle Butler, now with LASK in Austria, instead making him go through a trial first.
