Portsmouth have sent Greece striker Theofanis Gekas back to Bayer Leverkusen.

Gekas failed to make the breakthrough with the Premier League club but returns to the Bundesliga where Leverkusen are set to give him a second chance.

"Somebody who has learned how to score goals does not simply forget it all," commented Leverkusen coach Jupp Heynckes.
