Bayer Leverkusen boss relishing facing Tottenham in Champions League

Bayer Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt says Tottenham's intense style of play for their Champions League clash should not be a problem for the Bundesliga outfit.

The north Londoners' system yielded the scalp of Manchester City prior to the international break, with Pochettino's players able to unsettle Pep Guardiola's previously unbeaten team.

"I know Pep Guardiola's style from his three years in Germany. But Tottenham made sure the game was played their way - it was a super game," he told the Guardian.

"We're happy when the game is intense. Even against teams that are supposedly better than us, like Bayer Munich or Barcelona last season in the Champions League.

"We try and make them play our football - that's what we demand of our opponents, and if it works we normally win the game.

"I'm excited by the comparison and I'm looking forward to seeing how we handle the situation. These two games against Tottenham will be a huge challenge for us," Schmidt added.
