Barton feels Burnley the right for him

Joey Barton believes that he has joined the right club in Burnley.

Barton had been courted by a host of clubs such as West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest this summer but the midfielder somewhat surprisingly decided on a move to Burnley instead.

Barton has now gone on to reveal why he joined the Clarets while also adding that he is keen on impressing the club faithful who are skeptical about his signing.

The former QPR midfielder told the club's official website: "It's a very pleasant environment and you feel like coming to work in the morning. I'm not being critical of other places I've been at by saying that, but there is a really nice feel to the place. It's very welcoming to come and train here and there is a sense that it is a family club.

"The ethos that the club has got suited me down to the ground. I think I'm going to be a round peg in a round hole here. I'll have to earn my spurs and I'm really looking forward to showing everyone what I'm capable of.

"Everyone here is geared towards improvement and that hasn't always been the case at clubs I have been at."
