Wales defender Lewin Nyatanga has left Derby County to join Barnsley on-loan.

Nyatanga, 19, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Coca-Cola Championship club last season, will remain at Oakwell until January 1 2008.

Tykes manager Simon Davey told the club's official website, www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "We are delighted to have signed Lewin and have been tracking him all summer.

"We feel it shows just how far this club has come that we have been able to beat a number of so-called bigger teams in the Championship and from around Europe to get him."
