Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister will be signed to go right into the Liverpool first team.

That is the view of legend John Barnes, who believes Mac Allister can immediately improve the Anfield club.

After a poor season that saw them miss out on a top four finish, the Reds are determined to strengthen the midfield of Jurgen Klopp's squad.

"Be it Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice, be it any of them. I don't think they're going to sign midfield players to be part of the squad. Whereby if they sign a wide player, you could say that he'd be a squad player. If they're signing a midfield player, he's going to go straight into the team."
