AC Milan great Franco Baresi admits he's a fan of Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Baresi has been praising the Dutchman, saying he has been very impressed with his performances.

He said, "Virgil van Dijk's year was amazing, a player who impressed me.

"At Liverpool he made a difference due to his mastery, his personality.

"They spent a lot [to sign him], but I think the Reds did good business."
