Bardsley: Burnley fans can see we're getting back to best

Phil Bardsley feels Burnley can build on their performance in defeat to Liverpool.

A 3-1 defeat to title-challengers Liverpool extended Burnley's winless run to eight games.

But the Clarets' fans responded to a morale-boosting display which saw Sean Dyche's men briefly lead and threaten the Reds' unbeaten record.

“It was due. We knew we had to put in a performance and credit to everyone. I think everyone was top-class tonight," said Bardsley, who helped set the tone with a terrific showing on his return to the starting line-up for the first time since mid-September.

“You have to give them something to cheer about, whether it's a tackle, a header, a pass or a shot on goal.

“I think we did that and credit to all the lads. Even though the result didn't go our way we gave the fans something to cheer about and something to believe in.

“We believe in each other as players. We've had a tough start to the season, but we believe we've got a group of players good enough to get out of this mess. We'll keep working hard and hopefully a win is just around the corner."
