The Manchester City defender is expected to re-sign for Barca when his contract expires in June. For Mingueza, the Spain international will be warmly welcomed back. Like Garcia, Mingueza is also off contract this summer, though insists he would have no problem with Garcia returning and so threatening his own chance at regular first team football.
Indeed, Mingueza can see Garcia fitting seamlessly into his new surroundings given his history with the club's La Masia academy and also his time playing for former Barca coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Mingueza told La Vanguardia via Le 10 Sport: “Is Eric Garcia in his place? Yes, he's a player who grew up in La Masia and also grew up in (Pep) Guardiola's Manchester City, which is a team that has a very similar philosophy to Barça, to press and have very advanced lines.
"He is a spectacular central defender, who has made very good games with the national team and here we need the best. And for me, it's a privilege to be alongside the best."
Garcia, 20, has played for Spain during the past week's World Cup qualifiers, though has managed just the ten appearances for Manchester City so far this season. He was snapped up by City in 2017 from Barca's U16 team and first made his senior breakthrough two years later.
