Barcelona wing-back Alejandro Balde is being called up to the Spain World Cup squad.

Balde will get the call after Valencia defender Jose Luis Gaya was ruled out of the tournament with an ankle injury.

Gaya was flying back to Spain from Qatar today.

Spain confirmed the decision to release Gaya from the squad this morning.

Balde is now set to be called up as a replacement.
