Lionel Messi has reportedly identified Manchester City as his club of choice should he ever choose to leave Barcelona.
The Daily Mail is reporting City have made a number of enquiries about signing the Argentine international, but it is understood Messi is happy at the Nou Camp for the time being.
However, Messi is believed to have told City officials the Premier League club would be his next port of call if he were ever to leave the Catalan giants.
The 28-year-old is understood to have a strong working relationship with City sporting director Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran Soriano from their time at Barcelona, while the appointment of former Barca manager Pep Guardiola also works in the Manchester club's favour.
It is understood Messi could demand a weekly wage in the vicinity of £500,000 a week after tax if he were to join the Citizens.
