Barcelona striker Luis Suarez had hoped to return to Liverpool to collect his European Golden Boot for last season.
The Guardian says the ex-Kop star netted 31 Premier League goals last season to make him the continent's joint top scorer.
Real Madrid hitman Cristiano Ronaldo banged in the same number.
Ronaldo will get his in Madrid next month while Suarez will be presented with his in Barcelona on Wednesday.
Suarez's initial idea was to pick up the honour in front of supporters at Anfield, but that was not possible.
He then hoped Steven Gerrard would be able to join him but the Liverpool skipper didn't have time to travel to Spain.
Instead, Suarez has arranged for Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish to present him with the accolade.
