Barcelona sports chief Jordi on Rayo shock: We must ensure minimum objectives

Barcelona sports chief Jordi Cruyff concedes the weaknesses in Xavi's squad are now being exploited.

Defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday was the third consecutive loss suffered by Barca at home.

Jordi said, "Responsibilities? We are a club, here we all win and lose. It is obvious that there are times when you have to do this type of reflection, but it is the mixture of everything. All the clubs have to have balanced squads.

"I think that sports management is an important part, but it is a mixture of many things. In January, an important job was done that helped the team to score goals. In fact, we have had a very good run. But we are very clear about what we want to do. Another thing is what we can, because the market is not moved by us. But we have to modernise and balance many things in the team.

"I think we have things clear for the next campaign. When we win and also when we lose, we understand the things that have to be done. We are prepared for it, another thing is whether we can or not. But our approach to the coming season has not changed at all.

"Losing always complicates everything, but it is clear that now is the key moment of the season in which we have to ensure the minimum objectives and, of course, each defeat annoys us a little in that objective. There is no other choice but to work, there are the remaining games and we have to wake up."
