Barcelona are to launch a first proposal for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Argentina international is a favourite of Barca captain Lionel Messi, who has recommended his national teammate to the club's board.

TV3 says before their Champions League clash in Milan, Barca intend to discuss Martinez with Inter officials.

The Catalans will seek a first option for the striker by offering players ahead of the January market.

Inter are keen on Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic - and Barca could offer either midfielder as part of a deal which would secure first refusal for Martinez next summer.

The striker's Inter deal carries a €111m buyout clause.
