Barcelona president Laporta reveals Mbappe wage demands; Dembele hopes

Barcelona president Joan Laporta admits there was no chance of competing for PSG striker Kylian Mbappe's signing.

Laporta has reviewed the current situation at Barcelona, where he made it very clear that, if they activate one or two of the economic plans before June 30, they will put the club in a healthy economic state.

He also spoke of the alleged salary that Mbappe is demanding from Real Madrid, as well as the futures of the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Gavi.

"If we can activate one or two economic plans before June 30 we will have cleaned up a large part of the club's debt," he told Catalunya Radio.

"It will never happen again, going into such a dimension of madness. It must never happen again and we are instilling that in the club.

"If Mbappe wants 50 [million euros] net, we could not pay it. Then they don't win the Champions League... we won't talk about 30 net."

One Frenchman that Laporta will be worrying about is Ousmane Dembele, who is yet to sign a new deal with the club.

"He wants to stay but he is very tempted by other options that offer conditions that they may consider better than ours," Laporta said.

"The offer has been on the table for some time, they will respond to us when the season is over. We would have liked to have an answer sooner, but we can't force it. We have a good personal relationship with everyone.

"Auba [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] has come, with whom they are very good friends. He has representatives who are in control of the situation, but I hope he stays."
