Barcelona president Laporta hints Koeman set to stay

Barcelona president Joan Laporta says talks with coach Ronald Koeman have been "positive".

During the presentation of new signing Sergio Aguero, Laporta addressed the head coach situation and indicated that talks with Koeman were going well.

"We said that we were opening a period of reflection about Koeman, we have to evaluate what went well and not so well last season," said Laporta.

"The wish is to respect the contract, bringing together criteria which we need to talk about still. The conversations are going very well, the reflection period was necessary."

This seems to be the biggest sign so far that the Dutchman will be Barcelona head coach next season and Laporta mentioned that Koeman has been kept up to date on the club's transfer activity, while also playing down the link to Messi.

"We told Koeman we were trying to sign Kun Aguero, any coach would want to have him in their squad," said Laporta.

"Kun's signing is important because he is an exceptional player, he plays in a position that is very important in any system and in ours too.

"We want him in a competitive team, we also want Leo [Messi] to stay and he knows that...he is the first of a series of signings you will see in the coming month."
