Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has reaffirmed plans to extend the deal of Lionel Messi.

Messi was again outstanding for victory over Atletico Madrid last night.

And Bartomeu stated: "Messi is eternal, this is already the case.

"But we would like him to continue playing with us for a long time, so we have to extend his contract so that the communion with this team of which he is the leader continues.

"Leo has led us to glory many times and there are many others who are waiting for him."
