Barcelona president Bartomeu: Braithwaite here to help us now and in future

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has welcomed new signing Martin Braithwaite.

The former Leganes striker has joined Barca in an €18m deal as an emergency replacement for the injured Ousmane Dembele.

Bartomeu explained their decision yesterday: "After analysing different players, we chose Martin. We think he will help us win the two remaining titles. I am very excited about the arrival of a new player and we hope he will help us in a league which we want to win and which is very open.

"He will give us strength. We had a long-term injured player like Dembélé, in addition to Luis Suarez. The technical team has studied the players and we hope that Braithwaite can make his debut quickly. He has signed for the next four and a half years and is here helping us now and for the future."
