Barcelona's locker room have dismissed claims of Neymar needing to get out of the club to prove his quality at PSG.

It was suggested by Daniel Alves this week that Neymar needed to leave Barca to get out of the shadow of Lionel Messi and compete for the Ballon d'Or.

Don Balon says Messi took Alves' comments personally, believing Alves was having a pop at how he rules the locker room at La Masia.

But Messi can still count on the full support of the squad. Indeed, there's a belief inside the dressing room that Neymar's decision to leave was not motivated by his struggle to shine while playing with Messi.

Instead, the players believe Neymar's intention was always to use PSG as a stepping stone to make the controversial move to Real Madrid. The biggest problem for the Brazilian, they say, was not Messi but the Brazilian's "ego" and his refusal to wait to develop his game so he could genuinely compete for the Ballon d'Or.

There's now an expectation inside Barca that Neymar will be wearing the white of Real Madrid next season.
