Barcelona plan new legal action against Santos over Giva

Barcelona are planning to take new legal action against Santos.

Marca says two players on Barcelona's radar, Gabriel Barbosa (Gabigol) and Givanildo Plugas (Giva), are subject of their complaint.

The Catalan club paid a total of 7.9 million euros total for the right to sign certain players - Gabigol, Giva, and Victor Andrade- sooner than opponents in the way of preferential rights, meaning Barcelona would be first choice in theory if any of those three were to leave.

However, Santos have given Giva carte blanche, something Barcelona believe violates the initial agreement.

Furious at the handling of Gabigol, the Blaugrana have decided not to pay Santos the 2 million they would owe if Neymar were to become a Ballon d'Or finalist.

In doing so, they hope to force the Brazilian club's hand over the payment of the 1.8 million from Riva, which is the amount from the 7.9m specifically paid for the player.
