Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong confirms crunch Xavi talks

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong insists he and coach Xavi are on good terms after victory over Real Mallorca.

De Jong was angry to be taken off in the 60th minute of the defeat to Rayo Vallecano and had a face-to-face meeting with Xavi in the week ahead of Sunday's 2-1 win over Mallorca.

"The conversation was good," De Jong told Movistar. "The coach told me he has confidence in me and I'm confident as well. Everyone happy. Pressure is always good, it's never too much."

De Jong added it's "frustrating" not to be able to compete with Real Madrid for the league title this season and said the objective now is to finish second and qualify for the Supercopa next season.

"We have not been good this year," he said. "Now we are second and the objective is to stay there."

On the win against Mallorca, he finished: "We played quite well but you can always improve. It was important to win after two defeats (at home in the league)."
