Barcelona midfielder Busquets emotional after Spain thump Slovakia

Barcelona midfielder Sergi Busquets was proud of Spain's rout of Euro 2020 opponents Slovakia.

Busquets wasn't able to hide his emotions after putting in a man of the match performance as Spain beat Slovakia 5-0 to progress to the round of 16.

"Today has been a rush for everyone," Busquets, teary-eyed, said after the match.

"For us, for the fans...

"I've had a pretty bad time. I spent 10 days at home, I didn't know if I could get back to the squad or not."

Having drawn each of their first two group games, questions were being asked of Luis Enrique's Spain. Busquets believes that the hammering of Slovakia has come at the right time.

"I think it was needed," Busquets said.

"We were switched on from the start and we're strong when we're like this.

"We have kept trying [for goals]. We were lucky with the first, but then it went smoothly. We're confident and hope we can do well."
