Barcelona are demanding Manchester United pay a fee for Frenkie de Jong entirely up front.
Barca and United have been spending the week haggling over a price for De Jong, including the method of payment.
Barca have been seeking €85m to sell De Jong and had previously intimated a willingness to accept a staggered fee.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting things have now changed, with Barca insisting United pay the fee in total and up front.
With the Catalans struggling to shift out their fringe players, they need a big sale to satisfy the LaLiga's spending controls.
United's last offer was for €60m up front plus a further €10m in bonuses.
