Barcelona have made Juventus ace Paul Pogba their top midfield transfer target this summer. Barca have held talks with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and the German has undergone a medical to prove his fitness. But negotiations have cooled in recent days as Barca step up their bid for Pogba, says Sport.
The Frenchman convinced those final doubters on the Barca board with his performance in the Champions League final on Saturday. The club's powerbrokers are now unanimous about signing the youngster.
The plan for Barca is to buy Pogba immediately and loan him back to Juve for next season. Barca cannot register new players until January 1, 2016.
The main concern for Barca is Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola. There is still some anger inside the Nou Camp over Raiola's criticism of Barca during Zlatan Ibrahimovic's ill-fated spell with the club.
There's also concerns over the expected fee demanded by Raiola to broker the deal.
