Barcelona launch official account on TikTok

FC Barcelona have become the latest European club to launch an official account on the Chinese social media platform TikTok as part of a strategic move to engage with younger fans, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The Catalan side join several of the continent's major soccer teams to have established a presence on the video-sharing platform in recent months, including La Liga rivals Real Madrid, who launched their own channel on 14th June to coincide with the signing of Belgian international Eden Hazard.

In collaboration with TikTok, Barcelona will produce a 'user challenge' featuring first-team players as part of their launch, which has been unveiled in time for the club's pre-season tours of Japan and the US, and will see the club create behind-the-scenes content.

The move follows the club's recent partnership with Roblox, an online platform geared towards children and teens which allows users to create their own video games.

Dídac Lee, an FC Barcelona board member responsible for digital, said: "Just as we announced our launch with Roblox some weeks ago, we keep moving forward with innovative initiatives which connect to new audiences and bring the club closer to them.

"The launch on TikTok is an important step to reach a younger audience with content format that is consumed every day by millions of people of their mobile devices."
