Barcelona interim president Tusquets blasts back at Laporta over Man City defender Garcia

Barcelona interim president Carles Tusquets has angrily hit out at candidate Joan Laporta over demands the club sign Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.

Both Laporta and fellow presidential candidate Victor Font have pushed for Barca to buy Garcia this month, despite the Spaniard coming off contract in June.

In a letter released to Radio Cataluyna, Tusquets declared: "I beg you to refrain from threatening this Management Commission in the search for decisions that you consider may be convenient for you under the guise of being necessary for the club."

Tusquets was responding to a letter from Laporta, where he stated: “I want to remind you that a negligent, obstructionist and malicious attitude, being President of the Management (board), we would hold him directly responsible for the financial situation of the club."

Tusquets' letter continued: "If we finally do not sign the contract, it will not be because of their unfair and inconsiderate threats, but rather as a sign of responsibility and elegance, allowing the elected president to make the pertinent decision (…) who this writes (Tusquets) considers that, thinking strictly in football terms, the most successful thing would have been to sign this player."
