Barcelona intent on restoring 'world's best' tag - Pique

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says the players are intending to put all the controversy and criticism to the side when they take on Manchester City on Tuesday night.

The Catalan giants have slightly fallen away over the past six months, losing their fear factor, and struggling at times to step up to the standard of their brilliant 2011 side.

Ahead of the Champions League Round of 16 first leg at the Etihad Stadium, Pique insists it is the target of the Blaugrana players to show the world they are still the best.

"We know that in the club in the last six months there have been things that the players cannot control," the Spain defender told reporters.

"All we can do tomorrow is show the world that we can still be the best by trying to play a great game against Manchester City.

"Maybe other teams don't fear us as before, but I think they still respect us. We still have a lot of players who have won World Cups and Champions League.

"Tomorrow is a great chance to go on the pitch and show that we are top players and that we can win here."
