Barcelona hero David Villa is confident Lionel Messi will sign a new deal.

Messi comes off contract at the end of this season.

Villa said, "A lot of things have changed at Barcelona, I don't have a precise advice to give him. He must do what he wants, he is a smart guy and he will find the best solution.

"With the new management, I am convinced that there is the right structure to get back to the top.

"LaLiga? I hope Barça or Atletico Madrid win it, it's an interesting championship. I remember with pleasure the 2011 Champions League victory against Manchester United, all players who dream of reaching high levels hope to win this cup."
