Barcelona hero Rivaldo has revealed he was offered the chance to sign for Manchester United during his career.
Rivaldo, 47, won the Ballon d'Or in 1999 ahead of second-placed David Beckham in the season that Sir Alex Ferguson led United to an unprecedented treble.
But Rivaldo says he was too content at the Camp Nou for a move to Old Trafford to appeal to him.
"When I was playing for Barcelona, I had some agents trying to transfer me to Manchester United," he told Betfair.
"But I was so happy with the city and the club at Barcelona that I didn't pay much attention to that possibility.
"It wasn't out of disrespect to United, I just didn't want to move at that time. I'm not sure if there was any proposal. There were just discussions with agents and rumours, nothing more than that."
