Barcelona great Hristo Stoichkov is backing their move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

It broke this week that Barca had made a new offer for the Argentina international.

The two clubs have been in talks for months about a deal. Inter have been insisting Lautaro will only leave for an offer equivalent to his €111m buyout clause.

Having initially offered €60m cash plus a range of players in exchange, Barca are now putting €90m cash on the table plus one player. It's suggested the Catalans are willing to include Arturo Vidal in the package.

Stoichkov said, "I love Lautaro. As a striker, I liked those forwards. He is very mobile and works hard for the team. He never stands still and that is more important than scoring a goal.

"If Lautaro Martínez comes to Barcelona, he can become as important a forward as (Gabriel) Batistuta was.

"If Lautaro Martínez arrives at Barcelona, he will have the best teacher in the world who is Luis Suarez. They both have movement. Obviously the two can play together plus Messi."
