Barcelona defender Pique denies players run club

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique insists talk of player power inside the club is overplayed.

The Spanish defender recently returned to training. Asked about player power, he told Post United: “If in some moments we have taken control it's because they asked us. Because those who have to take decisions did not do so and delegated them. In the end, the players are there to play football. The less they decide, the better.

“I think that players don't rule. They can give their opinion and after that, decisions can go one way or another. When you have a board and a president who are very strong, they have their ideas and want to go one way, the player has little to decide."

On Luis Suarez leaving, he said: “You have to ask those who let him go. That's not my fault."
