Barcelona defender Lenglet admits Bayern Munich thrashing took months to recover from

Clement Lenglet admits he felt a Champions League hangover going into last season with Barcelona.

He spoke of the tough days after Barcelona's 8-2 thrashing by Bayern Munich.

“I left that game raging. Taking such a sizeable 8-2 defeat hurt me a lot, I was worn out," said Lenglet to L'Equipe. “I felt empty for a few days. It's very hard to digest, it hurt so much, so much. It was the first time I'd let so many goals in, in a game."

He says that stopped him playing well at the start of the 2020-21 season.

“Maybe that game influenced my season, it was not good in all ways, but not just that.

“I started with a physical deficit because I was worn out. I took two or three months to get my feeling back."

Didier Deschamps spoke to Lenglet: “He told me to be patient and that I shoudn't worry about anything. They are normal problems and they happen, they happened to him too."
