Barcelona's attempts to sign Gremio midfielder Arthur Melo have fallen through.
Marca says Barca directors met with some of their counterparts from Gremio and with the agent of Arthur this week, but the negotiations have not gone as well as hoped.
Gremio general director Carlos Amodeo, club lawyer Gabriel Vieira and the player's agent Jorge Machado all travelled to Catalonia given that the transfer was close to being completed, but they haven't been able to come to an agreement with the representatives of the Blaugrana and they are now planning to return to Brazil, barring a significant change in tune.
Various issues were the subject of conflict, including commission payments and the player's salary.
The collapse of the negotiations in Barcelona opens the door for other clubs to try to sign Arthur.
