Barcelona are confident securing Gavi to a new contract next month.

The 17-year-old's contract at the Nou Camp is set to expire in 2023 and clubs are said to already be circling in case he does not agree a new deal.

Gavi's agent Ivan de la Pena and Barca's director of football Mateu Alemany agreed in December to hold off renewal talks until January.

But with the club prioritising other deals before the transfer window closes, the two parties are yet to discuss a contract extension.

However, it appears the Catalans are finally ready to begin talks with Gavi in February to discuss the expected renewal, says Sport.
