Barcelona coach Xavi has reaffirmed expectations of Frenkie de Jong staying.

The Holland midfielder has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United in recent days.

After victory at Athletic Bilbao, Xavi said: "Frenkie has been at an extraordinary level for many months now and has our full confidence.

"He gives us a lot, he drives, loses few balls, breaks pressure lines… He is one of the best midfielders in the world and he is at a spectacular level."

Xavi also said of wing-back Alejandro Balde: "He is 19 years old and already makes a difference in attack and defence. His personality is spectacular. He is the surprise of the season. He is giving us a very high level. By conditions he can be what he wants."
