Luuk de Jong is suddenly moving ahead of Memphis Depay on the striker's pecking order for Barcelona coach Xavi.

Mundo Deportivo says De Jong's run of goalscoring form since Xavi began selecting him has the coach rethinking his transfer plans.

Indeed, it's suggested Xavi would be prepared to see Memphis sold this month ahead of De Jong.

Xavi favours a centre-forward in the style of De Jong for his system, which will also rely on wingers like new addition Ferran Torres.

As such, it's now suggested Xavi wants to keep the on-loan Sevilla striker while approving the departure of Memphis.
