Barcelona coach Xavi was taken aback by the "hostility" of Athletic Bilbao fans at San Mames yesterday.

Athletic supporters barracked Barca during Athletic's 1-0 defeat with chants of 'Segunda! Segunda!' amid the Negreira investigation.

Fake money was also thrown on the pitch and Xavi admits he was stunned by the "hostility". He said: "I respect the public of San Mamés, here they have always treated me very well.

"I have been surprised by this atmosphere of so much hostility, it is something that saddens me.

"I believe that judging ahead of time is not good for society."
