Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde insists he's counting on Andre Gomes this season.

The Portugal midfielder has been linked with Tottenham and Liverpool in recent days as he struggles to break into Valverde's starting XI.

However, the coach is adamant Gomes is a required player.

He explained: "He plays in different positions. He can help us in strategy, we want him to express his qualities. He can help us a lot.

"Here, many players are questioned and I do not understand it..."
