Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde was happy with their Copa del Rey win over Valencia.

Barcelona won the first-leg of their semifinal 1-0, with Luis Suarez grabbing a second-half winner.

Valverde said, "The score is good because we won in the end, in these games anything can happen and winning a game is very difficult, we won and the opponent did not score, the draw (in the second leg) benefits us, although it is not that we go for a draw.

"In any case, there's everything to be decided, we came here in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 and we turned it around."

The coach also defended Lionel Messi's performance.

"What happens with Messi is that every time he grabs the ball, you expect him to do something, sometimes it's too much because you have to let him breathe a little bit, it's a spectacle to see him."
