Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman says the squad's leadership group deserve great praise for taking wage reductions.

The decision will allow Barca to register their summer signings.

He said: “We have to highlight the attitude of Gerard (Pique), Sergi Roberto, (Sergi) Busquets and (Jordi) Alba, because they have all been for years at the club and want to help improve its economic situation. It's important and shows they are people from here."

Koeman also remarked: “It's painful to see Messi at PSG for all Cules. Everything he has done. We miss him. But we can't live in the past. These are things that happen, there's a future with the young players we have, so that's why I am hopeful. I hope that we have the help of Barca fans, we have to work hard to achieve what we want to achieve."
