Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman admits he's used his past experience working with Johan Cruyff to help get the best from Frenkie de Jong.

While Barca have struggled in recent weeks, De Jong is showing some of the best form of his career under Koeman.

The Barca coach said, “Frenkie had a difficult first year.

"I once said that I thought he wasn't playing in the right position. He does that under me.

"Especially in the last matches, he is taking more initiative to get forward, which we have talked about. These are pleasant things for players. I had that with Johan too."
