Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman is at odds with new president Joan Laporta over their striker signing needs.
Barca have little money but need a striker, which is why they have started to talk to Manchester City striker Kun Aguero. However, Koeman prefers the idea of Lyon's Memphis Depay arriving, believing he would fit the team better, says Sport.
Aguero would be the bigger name and bring more 'hope' to Barca, but Koeman knows what he needs and is arguing for Depay in a sporting sense.
Kun has played just three games as a starter this season and has not scored, while Depay is having a fine season with Lyon, having left his injury problems behind. He has 13 goals and is 27 years old, coming into his peak.
Koeman knows Depay and thinks this is a good opportunity. The forward is ignoring other offers and waiting for Barca to pick him up. Depay's salary would also be easier for Barcelona to pay than Aguero's.
